Dhanush-starrer Thodari has struck gold at the box office. Despite getting mixed reviews, the film has performed well at the Tamil Nadu box office.

The Kollywood film was released in over 250 screens in the state on Thursday, September 22. Thodari had garnered a decent response to the advance booking. But it managed to do good business in the four-day first weekend in Tamil Nadu.

The latest trade reports say that Thodari has earned around Rs 15-17 crore in five days, which is a good number for a Dhanush film. However, the film should hold well in the coming days in order to rake in profits for the producer, exhibitors and distributors.

However, The film, which earned Rs 1.7 crore in the first weekend in Chennai, has not performed well at the overseas box office. Thodari has raked in Rs 17.2 lakh in the US and Rs 3.32 lakh in the UK. However, it made a decent collection at the Malaysian box office by grossing Rs 46.87 lakh.

Thodari, which has not been released in Karnataka due to the Cauvery dispute, is a romantic-thriller, written and directed by Prabhu Solomon. Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh are starring in the flick, which is jointly bankrolled by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan.
