OnePlus 6 is by far one of the worthiest smartphones to buy this year, but there's some confusion among consumers whether it is wise to wait for the OnePlus 6T, which is to be released in the next few months. OnePlus' plans for the 6T remain a mystery as of now, but rumours are rife about what the next OnePlus smartphone would offer.

OnePlus has traditionally picked up design cues from OPPO's R-series phones. For instance, OPPO R15 inspired the design of OnePlus 6 and it is expected that the all-new R17 will be the blueprint for the OnePlus 6T. Based on popular beliefs, tech YouTuber Waqar Khan has shared renders of what he imagines to be the OnePlus 6T.

In any case, if the renders turn out to be true, owners of OnePlus 6 are in for a huge disappointment. But we highly doubt OnePlus 6T to pack so many upgrades for its bi-annual upgrade. Instead, the company might reserve some upgrades as shown in the renders for its 2019 flagship, OnePlus 7.

Let's take a look at what the renders tell us about OnePlus 6T:

Display

OnePlus 6T is to borrow the new display design as the Oppo R17, complete with a bezel-less form, a tiny water drop notch and a slightly larger 6.4-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED display. This is the only cosmetic change we see from the renders, as the OnePlus 6T will have the same glass back design.

Fingerprint scanner

The fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 6 was placed on the back of the device, but the 6T is shown with an in-display sensor. This feature is still not widely accepted by OEMs, except Vivo, so we'd suggest taking this piece of information with a pinch of salt. If OnePlus can pull it off then the OnePlus 6T will certainly be a step ahead of its rivals and justify its tagline "flagship killer."

Cameras

OnePlus really came through in the camera department in the OnePlus 6, but if the concept renders are to be believed, there's a bigger upgrade underway. The renders show triple camera set up at the back. The only other brand to pull this off is Huawei in its P20 Pro.

This upgrade is a long shot, but a welcoming change if OnePlus can make it happen.

The rest...

While the abovementioned upgrades are reasons enough to upgrade to OnePlus 6T, even for OnePlus 6 owners, there's a fair amount of scepticism in the wind. However, there are some sure shot features that will embrace the OnePlus 6T, such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB/256GB storage options, Android Oreo-based OxygenOS upgradeable to Android Pie, and a 3,300mAh battery with Dash Charge.

If the changes are significant, we can imagine the price of the 6T to hike. But the company will try to keep the OnePlus 6T's price in check and not too far from the OnePlus 6's pricing. Let's wait and find out what OnePlus has in store for us this year.
