Ilayathalapathy Vijay's "Theri" has continued to do well at the Chennai box office, and new release "Manithan" is off to a good start in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

As per Behindwoods, "Theri" has collected Rs. 1.03 crore from 276 shows in its third weekend to take its total to Rs. 8.76 crore. The movie made average collections on weekdays but business picked up on Saturday and Sunday.

However, it remains to be seen how "Theri," which has Samantha and Amy Jackson as the female leads, will perform in the coming days as Suriya's much-hyped "24" is releases this Friday, May 6.

Udhayanidhi Stalin's "Manithan," which has Hansika Motwani as the female lead, has done well in its first weekend by collecting Rs. 69.87 lakh from 207 shows. It is considered a good opening for a Stalin flick, which is likely to do well due to the good word-of-mouth.

Hollywood movie "The Jungle Book" has got "blockbuster" status in Chennai, having raked in Rs. 2.64 crore by the end of its fourth weekend. It had earned Rs. 31.05 lakh from 153 shows last weekend.

Sasikumar's "Vetrivel" has failed to do well, with its collection seeing a huge drop last weekend. It earned Rs. 10.09 lakh in its second weekend to take its 10-day collection to Rs. 51.25 lakh. It had raked in Rs. 21.67 lakh from 108 shows in its first weekend.

Telugu movie "Sarainodu" collected Rs. 5.71 lakh from 36 shows. The 10-day collection of the film stands at Rs. 31.10 lakh.

The collection of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Fan" has also slowed down in Chennai in its third weekend. The Bollywood film has earned Rs. 2.15 lakh to take its total to Rs. 78.29 lakh.
