The makers of "24" have finally decided the release date of the upcoming Tamil movie as May 6. The premiere shows of the Suriya-starrer will be held a day earlier in foreign countries.

"#24TheMovie confirmed to hit the screens on May 6 with premieres planned overseas on May 5. May belongs to #Suriya," journalist Haricharan Pudipeddi wrote on Twitter. The film is expected to have its premiere shows in many countries, including Singapore and the U.S.

The release date, which was earlier planned to be April 14, was reportedly postponed to avoid a clash with the Ilayathalapathy Vijay-starrer "Theri."

The movie has been simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu languages, and both the versions are said to be getting released on the same day. It is the second biggest film, after "Theri," to hit the screens in Kollywood this summer.

The teaser and trailer of "24" have become instant hits, generating a lot of positive vibes for the film. The video clips have won appreciation for the visually-rich content and the electrifying screen presence of Suriya.

Vikram Kumar's "24," which also stars Samantha and Nithya Menen in the female lead roles, is a science-fiction movie about time travel. Suriya himself has produced the film under his home banner of 2D Entertainment.

The film also stars Girish Karnad, Ajay, Saranya Ponvannan, and Sathyan in the supporting cast. Its music has been composed by two-time Oscar Award winner AR Rahman, while Tirru and Prawin Pudi have received credits for cinematography and editing, respectively.
