Zardari Visits India
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari visited India on Sunday.
Zardari had a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The leaders discussed bilateral issues and terrorism.
Manmohan asked Zardari to take action against Laskkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed, who allegedly masterminded the Mumbai terror attack.
SC Stayed Rape Case Against Madhur Bhandarkar
The Supreme Court stayed a hearing of criminal proceeding against filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar in connection with a rape case, fled by starlet Preeti Jain.
In her petition Preeti alleged that she had been raped by the filmmaker many times between 1999 and 2004 by promising to marry and cast her in his films.
Court Convicts Gujarat Riot Accused
A special court on Monday convicted 23 of the 47 accused in the infamous Ode massacre case in which 23 people were burnt alive by a mob during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
Restructuring Plans for Air India
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) announced a Financial Restructuring plan of around Rs 30,000 crore for the debt-laden national carrier Air India.
Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said that Air India would receive its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in the next two weeks. Twenty seven such planes would be inducted into the fleet.
Earthquake in Indonesia
An earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale hit Indonesia's Aceh Province Wednesday.
Mild tremors were also felt in various parts of India.
Following the earthquake, tsunami warnings were issued in many Indian Ocean countries, including India.
