Even as Ajith is busy with his upcoming project with Gautham Menon, rumours about his next project have already started doing the rounds.

Ajith is currently working in his 55th film referred as "Thala 55." After completing the film, Ajith will focus on his next project to be directed by Siruthai Siva.

The film, referred as "Thala 56," will be the actor's second project with Siva after the success of "Veeram." Siva is working on the film's script and it is expected to go on floors in December.

According to latest buzz, director Lingusamy will produce "Thala 56" under Thirrupathi Brothers banner. It has produced several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like "Kumki," "Vazhakku Enn 18/9" and "Ivan Vera Mathiri" among others.

Their upcoming projects include Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain" and Sivakarthikeyan's "Rajini Murugan." However, there is no official confirmation that the banner will be producing "Thala 56." It may be recalled that Lingusamy has directed the Ajith starrer "Ji" in 2005. It needs to be seen whether the duo will team up for "Thala 56."

An official word regarding the film is expected to be made by next month, reported Behindwoods.

Meanwhile, "Thala 55" shooting is progressing well and is expected to be wrapped soon. The film, touted to be an action thriller, will reportedly have Ajith playing the role of an investigating officer.

Trisha and Anushka Shetty play the female leads, while other cast members include Arun Vijay, Vivek, Devi Ajith, Baby Anikha and Thalaivasal Vijay.

This is the first time that Ajith and Gautham Menon have teamed up for a film. The collaboration has generated a lot of hype surrounding the project.

The film's audio launch is expected to take place in November. Music composer Harris Jayaraj has joined hands with Gautham after nearly six years. Together, they have created several hit albums including "Vaaranam Aayiram," "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu," "Minnale" and "Kaakha Kaakha" among others. There will be huge expectations for "Thala 55" album.

Produced by AM Ratnam, the action thriller flick is expected to be released in December. But, an official announcement regarding the release date is still awaited.
