A lot has been written about Tata's upcoming hatchback Zica lately; its features and interiors. But, what may have been glossed over is its launch date and bookings.

Although several launch dates have been linked to the upcoming new Zica since its unveiling in December, Tata has been mum on the matter. Now, if the emerging reports are anything to go by, Tata will pull the wraps off its new model in mid-February after the Auto Expo 2016. A report of Auto Car India, citing sources close to the development, indicates that the bookings for Zica are likely to open during the Auto Expo. Previously, it was reported that the Zica hatchback would see the light of the day on 20 January.

For the uninitiated, Tata Zica -- the first product based on the company's new design language 'Impact' -- will take on the likes of Maruti Celerio, Hyundai i10 and the Chevrolet Beat in the country. To be offered in both petrol and diesel options in India, Zica measures 3,746mm in length, 1,647mm in width, 1535mm in height and wheelbase of 2400mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 170mm and offers a boot space of 242-litres.

The engine line-up of Zica will include 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel mills. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500rpm, diesel engine will produce 69bhp of power 4000rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1800-3000rpm. Both the engines will be mated to five speed manual gearbox. There is no AMT option on offer for now. Tata Zica also gets Multi Drive such as ECO, City and Sport like the company's Zest and Bolt.

As for features, Zica will house Harman infotainment system with eight speakers, steering mounted audio controls for telephony, electrically adjustable ORVM and cooled glove box and there are also safety features like ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control.

Tata Zica, which will be positioned below the Bolt, is expected to carry a price tag starting at Rs 3.6 lakh.
