Tata Motors' new hatchback, the Tiago, is inching closer to launch. Ahead of it, dealerships have started receiving the hatchback for test drives and display. The Tiago is not just a new car for Tata Motors, but is expected to be the torchbearer of the upcoming Tata cars that will feature its new design philosophy. Hence, Tata Motors has been campaigning like never before for the Tiago. Here are 10 important facts you need to know about the next big thing from Tata Motors.

- The Tiago hatchback is the first model from Tata Motors' new design language, christened "Impact".  It is expected to convey 'Immediate IMPACT at first sight. Lasting IMPACT over time' according to the manufacturer.

- The Tiago hatchback was originally named Zica, derived from "Zippy Car". However, the Zika virus outbreak in several developing countries prompted the manufacturer to change its name.

- The Tiago is based on the copiously tweaked Xo platform of the Indica hatchback.

- The Tiago will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC petrol engine tuned to dish out 83.8bhp and 114Nm of torque while the 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine is capable of churn out 69bhp and 140Nm of torque.

- Tata Tiago diesel will get "City" and "Eco" driving modes to aid in fuel efficiency and power.

- The hatchback will flaunt features such as Harman infotainment system with eight speakers, steering-mounted audio controls for telephony and cooled glove box. ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control will take care of safety.

- The launch of the car is expected in the second half of March with an estimated price tag of Rs 3.9 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh.

- The colour palette of the Tiago will include Platinum Silver, Pearlescent White, Sunburst Orange, Berry Red, Espresso Brown and Striker Blue.

- The Tiago is backed by Tata Motors' "Made of Great" campaign, and has ace FC Barcelona and Argentina footballer Lionel Messi as its brand ambassador.

- The Tiago will be followed by its compact sedan sibling, which has been showcased as Kite 5 at Auto Expo 2016.
