Home-grown car maker Tata Motors showcased its upcoming models, the Tiago, Kite 5, Hexa and the Nexon at Auto Expo 2016. Among these vehicles, the Tiago has already been launched, while the Hexa will be launched soon. Tata Motors has been perfecting the Kite5 and the Nexon with road tests and both vehicles were snapped together for the first time.

The spy shots taken by MotorBeam shows rear of Tata's new compact sedan and compact SUV. Both vehicles are heavily camouflaged yet the silhouette makes it clear that the models are the Nexon and Kite 5. The Kite 5 is expected to enter market early 2017 while the Nexon will be launched by mid-2017.

Kite 5, the compact sedan version of the Tiago hatchback features front and side design in line with the hatchback. The small boot has been neatly integrated to the rear section. Kite 5 and the Tiago will share most of the underpinnings. Both vehicles also share similar interior layout. Under the hood, the Kite 5 will come packed with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. The petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.

On the other hand, the Nexon is the first compact SUV of Tata Motors. Built on the heavily modified Tata X1 platform of the Indica, the Nexon SUV features the next generation Impact design philosophy of Tata. The Nexon will flaunt a chrome Humanity Line on the upper grille featuring stylish projector headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs). At the rear, the Nexon is expected to get LED tail-lamps with chrome accents, arising beltline and a floating roof. Under the hood, the compact SUV of Tata is likely to get a1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The transmission in the model is likely to be taken care of by six-speed AMT gearbox.
