Tata's upcoming compact SUV, the Nexon, has already become a common sight on Indian roads as the company is putting the vehicle through rigorous testing in the country. Automobile lovers saw the Nexon in its nearly-production ready guise at the Auto Expo 2016, and the compact SUV has resurfaced on the web though spy shots several times after that.

The latest set of the images of the Nexon comes from MotorOctane. The repeated sighting of the model suggests that the work on the compact SUV is progressing at a rapid pace even as news of the delay in launch of the Nexon continues to be discussed among industry watchers.

The launch of the Nexon, which was originally scheduled to take place during the festive season this year, has now been pushed to 2017 as Tata is reportedly revisiting the marketing strategy of its upcoming models. Tata is reportedly looking to price its new models competitively in the market without compromising on the quality. The company, which launched the Tiago hatchback in the country this year, is also preparing the Kite 5 compact sedan for the next year. The Tiago has been fetching good numbers for Tata, which has even led to a prolonged waiting period for the model.

Nexon, which is built on the heavily-modified Tata X1 platform of Indica, is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The transmission in the model is likely to be taken care of by six-speed AMT box and will rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300.

The Nexon is expected to include a host of goodies, such as keyless entry, push start/top button, reverse-parking camera and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
