Mumbai-based automotive manufacturer Tata Motors is nearing to the launch of its flagship product Hexa. The launch of the vehicle has been scheduled on January 18 and the company already divulged all the information except the pricing. Now, emerging reports indicate the SUV's pricing may start at Rs 13.8 lakh.

According to information leaked on the TATA Hexa Un-Limited Klub (HULK) Facebook page, base variant of the Hexa, the XE, will be priced at Rs 13.8 lakh, on-road, Coimbatore. The top-spec trim will command a price tag of Rs 19.43 lakh. The XM trim has been priced at Rs 14.95 lakh, XT at Rs 15.52 lakh, XMA at Rs 16.68 lakh and XTA at Rs 18.4 lakh, according to the post.

If Tata Motors prices the Hexa starting at Rs 13.8 lakh, it will be a compelling case against Toyota's Innova Crysta. Tata Motors would be offering the vehicle in six variants and nine trims. It will also come with the option of six and seven-seater configurations. Hexa will have the XT, XTA and XT 4×4 variants with the six-seat option while the seven-seater will be available with the XE, XM and XMA.

Hexa will draw power from a 2.2-litre Varicor engine. While the 2.2-litre Varicor 320 engine will generate 148bhp and 320Nm of torque in the base variants of the Hexa, the same engine in remaining variants will develop 154bhp and 400Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox is offered in the base variant of Hexa, while the six-speed manual and automatic gearbox will be offered in the other variants. The Hexa will also boast of four drive modes — Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.

The latest offering from the house of Tata Motors comes after the Tiago, which was launched in April 2016 with new Impact design language of the carmaker. Impact design language makes the Hexa sharp and contemporary looking SUV with a honeycomb grille and chrome Humanity Line. The face of the SUV looks much younger than the Aria, which Hexa is replacing in Tata Motors' portfolio. Its side profile and rear profile have been chiseled from the Aria while Christmas tree tail lamps have made way for a modern horizontal compact unit.

Tata Motors has already started booking for the Hexa from November 1. Various reports indicate the vehicle has received a good start in terms of bookings. A competitive pricing for the Hexa will help Tata Motors regain its position as the third largest carmaker in India.
