Veteran actor Nana Patekar was laid to rest in Pune after sunset. Several celebrities and political leaders attended the funeral in Pune.

Nana Patekar died in the early hours of October 8 in Goa at the age of 75 due to cardiac arrest. His mortal remains were airlifted from Goa to Pune. Ever since news of Nana Patekar's demise broke, fans and celebrities have taken to social media to offer condolences over his sudden death.

However, with Nana's death, his controversies have also gained momentum. Actor Tanushree Dutta, who had accused the actor of sexual harassment on a film set years ago, made an 'evil dead' remark after his death. It sparked backlash on social media, with even the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) condemning the actor for making such a comment. Sandhya Mridul has reacted indirectly to the actor's death and asked if a person stops being an abuser after death.

Without naming either Tanushree or Nana in her Instagram post, Sandhya wrote, "Does a person stop being an abuser when they die? Does the harm they caused disappear too? For survivors, it doesn't." In the caption, she noted, "A survivor lives with it for as long as they live. I will always stand with the survivor."

In her Instagram Stories, Sandhya wrote, "A person's death does not automatically erase the harm they may have caused. Abuse does not become untrue because the abuser is gone, and the experiences of survivors do not become less real in the face of public tributes."

She added, "It is possible to mourn someone, and it is also important to remember that there may be people carrying pain connected to them. When only praise is allowed and survivors are forgotten, it can feel like their truth disappears all over again."

A day after the 'evil dead' remark, Tanushree Dutta made fresh allegations against Rakhi Sawant.

Recalling the impact of the controversy, Tanushree said, "Woh saara sab kuch karne ke liye usne Nana Patekar ke ghar se paise uthaye the. Main itna mentally disturbed ho gayi thi, Nana Patekar ke log mujhe pareshaan kar rahe the. Upar se Rakhi Sawant ne aake gande-gande videos, allegations... aur zyada mujhe victimise kiya."

Tanushree claimed that Nana had paid Rakhi Rs 2–2.5 lakh to hold press conferences and speak against her during the MeToo movement in 2018. In a video shared on Instagram, Tanushree alleged that Rakhi had collected the cash from Nana's Mumbai residence two days before holding the press conference.

Dutta said, "Uske liye usse paise mile the Nana Patekar se. Yeh main khud se nahi keh rahi hoon, Rajshree More, jo Rakhi Sawant ki best friend hua karti thi. Usi ki gaadi mein jaakar, Rakhi ne Nana Patekar ke ghar se 2-2.5 lakh, noton ke gaddi pick up ki thi..."

Former Bigg Boss contestant Rajiv Adatia has slammed actress Tanushree Dutta over her 'evil dead' remark about Nana Patekar following his death on Thursday. After facing backlash, Tanushree also said she did not regret her statement, going on to call Nana a 'sadist' and describing his death as nothing short of a miracle.

Rajiv further remarked that fame does not necessarily translate into class or dignity, adding that people should not mistake cruelty for courage or disrespect for strength. He also maintained that while nobody should be forced to mourn the dead, basic decency should prevent them from celebrating someone's death.

Tanushree accused Nana of inappropriate behaviour and sexual harassment during the filming of a song for Horn Ok Pleassss in 2008. In October 2018, she filed a complaint against the actor and three others over the alleged incident.

Her allegations brought renewed attention to workplace harassment in the Indian entertainment industry and became one of the key developments that brought the #MeToo movement into the national spotlight. Nana had denied the allegations.
