As expected, the latest Kangana Ranaut–Madhavan movie has got a fabulous start at the box office across the world.

According to industry analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has made a total domestic collection of ₹8.75 crore which is higher than the opening day domestic collection of Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Piku". "Piku'" had minted ₹5.5 crore from in India.

"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" has also beaten opening day box office collection of "Bombay Velvet", "Ek Paheli Leela", "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!", "Mr X", and "NH10".

Despite IPL match, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" also witnessed better occupancy during the evening shows than the morning ones on its opening day, and it looks like word of mouth had done the trick for the film. With this, Anand L Rai has almost ensured that his third film will also be a hit at the bx office like "Raanjhanaa" and "Tanu Weds Manu".

Meanwhile, overseas box office figures of the film also looks impressive with collection of ₹ 3.50  Crore in key international markets like US, UK, Australia' and GCC. With this, wordwide box office collection of "Tanu Weds Manu" is calculated as ₹12.25 Crore.

"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" was released in 2,200 screens in India and 340 screens overseas. With the kind of critical acclaim and positive responses the movie has garnered, the trade analysts expect the film to be one of the biggest box office successes of 2015.
