If the latest reports on the web are to be believed, Suzuki's upcoming mini 4x4 SUV iM-4 will be monikered as Ignis.

A MotorOctane report, citing Suzuki Cars' fan page, claims that the name of iM-4 compact SUV, which made its maiden appearance at 85th Geneva International Motor Show in March, will likely be called Ignis. The page has also posted a rendering image of Suzuki iM-4 compact SUV with the name Ignis at the front.

Last week, the patent image of the production-model of Suzuki iM-4 leaked online, showing a design similar to the concept version of the model that we saw at the Geneva auto show. Under the bonnet, Suzuki iM-4 is expected get 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine -- which will debut with the Baleno hatchback -- and the Swift's 1.2-litre Dualjet engine. In India, a diesel engine could also make its way to the iM-4.

Suzuki's iM-4 SUV is likely to enter the Indian market by the end of 2016 with the global launch also expected next year. In India, the main rivals of the model would be Mahindra's soon-to-be-launched S101 compact SUV, Hyundai Creta and Ford EcoSport.
