If the latest reports on the web are anything to go by, bike maker Suzuki is reportedly considering its powerful scooter Burgman 650 for the Indian market.

A report of Shifting gears claims that Suzuki is currently evaluating the market for niche scooters in India by collecting data through questionnaires and offering test rides to selected people.

Although this bit of information comes as a breath of fresh air, at the same time, it should be taken with a pinch of salt as such scooters rarely find favours among Indian motorists.

However, it won't be a surprise if Suzuki decides to push ahead with the Burgman 650 and in the bargain treads on a new path in the domestic two-wheeler market. The only scooter in India that came with a hefty design and a powerful engine was Kinetic's Italiano Blaze in 2006. Sadly, the scooter did not find many takers in the country.

The engine of the Burgman 650 includes a 638cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, a 4-stroke DOHC petrol motor that can pump out a power of 54 bhp and comes mated to a SECVT (Selectable automatic) automatic gearbox. The Burgman 650, a stylish Suzuki offering, also has ABS in its feature list.
