Suriya's blockbuster film, "Singam 2" has completed 50 days theatrical run in many screens across Tamil Nadu state.

Despite getting mixed reviews, "Singam 2" has done extremely well in Indian as well as overseas markets, thanks to Suriya's star power and aggressive promotions by Prince Pictures, the banner under which the film was released.

The film made it to the theatres on 5 July and went on to become a big hit worldwide. It raked in more than ₹50 crore from Indian markets within ten days of its release.

"Singam 2" collections in global markets have also been overwhelming. The film scored big in key international markets including US-Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Particularly in Malaysia, "Singam 2" raked in better collections than Vijay's "Thuppakki." The action entertainer was Suriya's highest grossing film in the country.

It also rocked the US and UK box office, performing better than some other-language films. It did well in California bay area and completed its 100th show on 28 July.

Directed by Hari, "Singam 2" is a sequel to the 2010-blockbuster "Singam." The sequel is about a righteous man who is on a mission to track illegal drug dealers. The film was panned by some critics, but still managed to perform well at the box office.

"Singam 2" has a big star cast including Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Santhanam, Vivek, Mukesh Rishi, Radha Ravi, Nassar, Rahman and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani. Most of the stars in "Singam" were retained for the sequel.

The success of "Singam 2" has proved that sequels can also do good business at the box office. The film has brought in a sense of relief for Suriya as his last two releases failed to garner good revenues. The actor will next be seen in Lingusamy's directorial venture with Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
