Actor Suriya started shooting for the film "24" on 9 April in Mumbai. The news was conveyed by the team of "24" as well as Suriya on Facebook.

Directed by Vikram Kumar, "24" is touted to be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual and an action adventure, with all the commercial elements. The movie will see Samantha Ruth Prabhu share screen space with Suriya after "Anjaan".

Vikram Kumar is one of the popular directors in Tamil and Telugu film cinema. He made his debut as director with a 1998 non-feature film "Silent Scream", which won National Film Award for Best Educational/Motivational/Instructional Film.

His first feature film was "Istam" (Telugu), starring Tarun and Shriya Saran. This was followed by "Alai" (Tamil), "Yavarum Nalam" (Tamil), "13B" (Hindi) and "Ishq" (Tamil). His last-released film was in Telugu with the title "Manam", which was known for casting three generations of Akkineni film family including Nageshwara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaithanya.

Meanwhile, the music of the flick is being handled by Oscar Award winner AR Rahman. Rahman will be working in a Suriya film for the third time after "Ayutha Ezhuthu" and "Sillunu Oru Kadhal".

The cinematography of "24" is being taken care of by PS Vinod, who is known for his work in "Rhythm", "Neal 'n' Nikki", "Rakta Charithra", "David", and "Manam". The editing of the movie will be handled by Prawin Pudi, while Rajeevan will take care of art direction.

Meanwhile, Suriya has wrapped up his movie "Masss" which is set to be released on 1 May. The movie is touted to be a supernatural fantasy-comedy thriller and has Nayanthara, Pranitha Subhash, Premgi Amaren, Parthiban, Samthirakano, Karunan, Simran, Sanjay Bharathi, Vidhyulekha Raman, Riyaz Khan and Ganesh.
