The Indian cricket team gave a phenomenal performance March 19, by beating Pakistan in the ICC World T20 2016 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Virat Kohli, who scored a half-century and helped his team win the match, was congratulated from all quarters, including ex-girlfriend Anushka Sharma.

Anushka reportedly congratulated Virat via text message after the match. "As soon as the winning runs were made, Anushka texted a congratulatory message to Virat wishing him on the win, [sic]" Bollywood Life quoted a source as saying.

The "Sultan" actress' gesture must have brought a big smile on the cricketer's face. Unlike other couples, these two seemed to have acted mature and wise after parting ways. However, if reports are to be believed, Virat did a childish thing earlier by announcing he was single at Angad Bedi's birthday bash.

Later, the cricketer reportedly tried hard to win his love back, and in fact, Anushka's brother helped them patch up. Sadly, things didn't work as expected and Virat and Anushka called it quits.

The buzz of their break-up surfaced when Virat unfollowed the "NH10" actress on Twitter and Instagram, and then uploaded, deleted and re-uploaded a photograph of himself, which was originally captioned: "Heartbroken."

Virat was apparently expecting to celebrate the Valentine's Day weekend with his lady love, but Anushka didn't have the time, as she had signed "Sultan" and started preparing for the role, which somehow irked the sports star.

Both have remained tight-lipped about their split, but fans are hoping the duo will get back together. Meanwhile, Anushka's message to Virat after his win has given hopes the duo might patch up.

Currently, Anushka is busy with two films — "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and "Sultan." In Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," she is sharing screen space with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor. And in "Sultan," she will be seen opposite Salman Khan for the first time on the big screen.
