Gumla, Feb 01 (ANI): The number students in schools across Gumla in Jharkhand, is declining. The reason: they fear being kidnapped by Maoists. In a move to strengthen their cadre base, the Maoists are allegedly picking 5-6 children from each school in rural areas of Jharkhand. They train them and use them as human shields against security forces. The teachers have failed to convince the parents to send their wards to schools. Many classes in various government schools in Gumla have been stopped, as no students are there. The Maoists don't want youngsters in rural and tribal areas to attend schools as they hope that illiteracy and poverty will push them into their arms.
