"7th Heaven" star Stephen Collins, who is currently facing criticism for reportedly confessing to child molestation, may have another controversy in the store for him. It has surfaced that he had condemned a topless photo of co-star Jessica Biel a few years ago, comparing it to child pornography.
Biel did a racy photo shoot for Gear magazine in 2000 but Collins said in an interview that Biel was a minor and should not have posed naked for the magazine as it sends a wrong message.
"The press has gotten Jessica Biel's age wrong in their recent stories about her," Collins said in an interview to NYDaily News at that time. "She's not 18, as has been widely reported. She's 17, a minor. And as such, Jessica's photo spread was child pornography. I don't want my kid to get the message that that's okay."
However, Collins' statement is quite contrary to what is seen in a tape recently released by TMZ. The tape has Collins admitting to the fact that he had assaulted three minors. It has been further reported that his ex wife Faye Grant had also threatened him to use the tape against him.
"Over the course of my representation of Stephen in the divorce case, Faye has repeatedly threatened to give this audiotape to the media unless Stephen agreed to pay her millions of dollars more than that to which she was legally entitled," Collins' lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan revealed to the Website.
However, Grant has said that she has no involvement in the release of the tape.
Collins also sparked off a suicide scare when a gunshot was heard from his house with rumours spreading that the actor killed himself out of "disgrace". His neighbour Donna D'Errico stated on her Twitter that the actor had killed himself.
"The guy from the Seventh Heaven lives right around the corner from and shot himself a few minutes ago," goes the tweet but it was deleted later.
However, the police found out that Collins was not at home and the alleged gun shot was a false alarm. The LAPD even got in touch with Collins to make sure that he is well and alive, according to a report by Daily Mail.
