Confirming the development of the rumoured "Spider-Man" video game, Sony unveiled a teaser trailer at its E3 2016 press conference. The company also released a teaser trailer for the upcoming game, which is said to be a PS4 exclusive being made by Insomniac Games, the makers of 2016's "Rachet & Clank."

The game has been rumoured to be in development for months, and was expected to be showcased at E3, which has turned out to be true.

The teaser trailer starts with a monologue of Peter Parker, the alter ego of Spider-Man. Then it shows us the new version of the iconic red and blue Spider-man suit. A big white logo of a spider is visible on the suit in the video. The superhero is also shown performing acrobatic moves as he moves around New York's Manhattan.

He is seen fighting bad guys with guns who are seen escaping in their vehicles after a probable bank robbery. Spider-Man swoops down using his web and takes them down.

Insomniac Games have assured fans that this game would feature a mature Peter Parker and would showcase a brand-new, authentic story.

"This is a more seasoned Peter Parker who's more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he's struggling to balance his absurdly chaotic personal life and career. All while nine million New Yorkers depend on him for their safety... no pressure indeed," Bryan Intihar, community manager, Insomniac Games, said in a PlayStation blog post.

He also revealed that the game consists of new elements that players have not seen in "Spider-Man" before, including parkour, utilising the environment, new combat and set-pieces.

However, the developer has not shared any information on the details of the game or the release window but has promised "more" in the "months to come."

Spider-Man fan site, Superior Spider-Talk has reportedly discovered some Easter eggs in the game that suggest that the game could see Venom making an appearance. It also notes that Spider-Man might be facing Mr. Negative. The post added that the trailer showed a shelter that could be one of Mr. Negative's bases of operation, FEAST. In another frame, it showed Norman Osborn, the supervillain, running for the post of the city's mayor.
