Wantaway midfielder Victor Wanyama has lost his focus playing for Southampton and is jeopardising his future, according to Saints boss Ronald Koeman. Wanyama, 24, was once again left out of Koemans Southampton team as the Saints secured their first league win of the season in their 3-0 rout of Norwich City. Speaking in the press conference after the match, Koeman confirmed that Wanyama has asked to leave but that he will not be sold.

The situation is with Victor that he has lost some focus to the team. And that is why he took him out of the squad today, Koeman said If he keeps going like this, he is playing with his future.

A goal from Graziano Pelle and two strikes from Dusan Tadic secured a first win of what has been a disapointing start to the season for the Saints. Star players from the previous campaign Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin have been prised away by Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, but Koeman remained adamant that no further players would leave the club. Nobody is for sale and the players have to accept that, he said.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested in Wanyama, while Sadio Mane is rumoured to be a target for Manchester United.

The summer transfer deadline is due to close at 6pm GMT on 1 September. Southamptons next Premier League game is away to West Brom on 12 September.
