Sony is reportedly working to add another smartphone, Xperia Z2,to its Xperia range. This smartphone will be the successor of Xperia Z1, which made its debut during the IFA Event in Berlin.

Xperia Z2 is likely to have a better display than its predecessor as it is speculated to carry a 5.2 inch display with a screen resolution of 1080p full HD, reported Tech Radar. The current Xperia Z1 has a display of 5 inch and a screen resolution of 441 pixels per inch.

Rumor has it that the device will be powered by a similar quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and the rear camera is also suspected to be the same as Xperia Z1, which is of 20.7 megapixels.

It is however likely that Xperia Z2's Sony G camera lens will be accompanied by a Xenon flash and a powerful LED flash, which can be considered to be the improvement.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to feature an extra RAM of 3GB, whereas its predecessor sports a RAM of 2GB. The battery backup of the device will likely be 3,200 mAh.

Along with the specification leaks, some photos of the device too have made an appearance online. The leaked photos revealed that Xperia Z2 will be the slimmer version of Xperia Z1 carrying the same design, reported Phones Review.

Since the new Android 4.4 KitKat is now in the market, it is speculated that Xperia Z2 will be accompanied with the software instead of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

These rumours have now raised questions about the expected release date of the device. It is also being said that the Japanese company might be saving the device to unveil it during CES 2014.

However, Sony has not yet confirmed or announced anything about the rumored device Xperia Z2.

The tech giant has been on a roll since the beginning of the 2013 when it introduced Xperia Z. The Japanese company introduced the water resistant and dust resistant feature to the device, after which it made another addition to the range in the form of Xperia Z Ultra. Sony also unveiled the Xperia Z1 a few days back, which focused on its most popular feature - a camera of 20.7 megapixels, reported Phones Review.
