The much-anticipated new PlayStation gaming console by Sony Interactive Entertainment will be launched in the United States on Sept. 7. The emerging reports suggest that it will also see an early Asia release with launch in Hong Kong on Sept. 8.

This piece of information has been uncovered by a gaming tipster via Twitter, who has referenced to the official PlayStation (PS) Korea blog. Another Twitter user has translated the blog and confirmed details about the official launch.

However, it is not known whether this new console is the PlayStation Neo or the PlayStation Slim; both of which are heavily rumoured to be released in 2016.

The original console in the series, the PlayStation, was the first video game console to ship 100 million units, nine years and six months after its initial launch in 1994. The PlayStation 4, released in 2013, had sold a million consoles in its first 24 hours on sale to become the fastest selling console in history.

At this point in time, it is worth noting that the event referred to above takes place on Sept. 7 in the U.S. at 8PM BST which when seen from the Asian time zone point of view translates to Sept. 8 3AM (as per corresponding time zones in Hong Kong and Asia).

Nonetheless, what is understandable from the above reports is that the new PlayStation console irrespective of its nomenclature being PS Slim or PS Neo would do a world of good for loyalists in Asia who generally are looked at, by Sony, after their American and European counterparts.

As far as technical aspects of the Sony PlayStation Neo and the Slim PS4 are concerned, both the consoles are expected with next-gen specifications with 4k capabilities.
