Sony Xperia ZR to Hit Indian Markets Soon

Within two weeks of its global unveiling, Sony Xperia ZR is all set to step into the lucrative Indian market.

The India arm of the multinational conglomerate has listed the new Xperia ZR smartphone on its official website as 'Coming Soon' but did not reveal the price and actual date of release. Sony during the unveiling in London had said that Xperia ZR would hit select global markets in Q2, so Indian consumers can expect the new smartphone probably as early as June or around the same time as the launch in European markets.

In terms of hardware specifications, Xperia ZR packs features which are pretty much similar to that of its expensive Xperia Z sibling sans the physical form and below par front-camera. So we can expect the new smartphone to be priced less than its Xperia Z whose price is currently hovering over ₹37,500.

Xperia ZR sports a 4.6-inch TFT screen with HD 720x1280p resolutions having a pixel density of 319 ppi and runs on the Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean powered by 1.GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro qua-core processor with Adreno 320 graphics engine.

One striking feature of Xperia ZR is that it can take 30 minutes of full HD video under water for up to five feet. In comparison, Xperia Z can take pictures only up to 3.3 feet of water.
