Japanese consumer electronics giant, Sony on Thursday (25 September) officially launched the company's new flagship smartphone Xperia Z3 and its mini version - Z3 Compact in India.
Sony Xperia Z3 was originally unveiled at the recently concluded IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2014, Germany. The new Sony smartphone resembles its predecessor in terms of look and packs pretty much same internal hardware sans a couple of key features. It boasts of thinner body (1mm slimmer than Z2) with curved corners and an Aluminum frame on the edge.
Inside, it houses a 2.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series processor backed by 3GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB) and a high-capacity 3,100 mAh battery.
One of the striking features of Sony's new device is its camera. It boasts of 20.7 megapixel camera with new 25mm "G Lens" and is the world's first smartphone with ISO 12800 sensitivity for superior photos, even in low light (and also auto-focus, Exmor RS sensor, pulsed LED flash, 4K resolution video recording) and a 2.2-megapixel snapper on the front.
Xperia Z3 also boasts of IP65/IP68 water and dust resistant certifications, the highest rating in the smartphone industry.
[Note: Users can take the new Sony phone for a dip in the swimming pool (or any other water-body), 1.5 meters (five feet) under water for close to 30 minutes, provided all the open ports are closed by the flaps provided in the package.]
Xperia Z3 also comes with PlayStation certification enabling users to use their smartphone as a controller on PS4 console and also play games on the smartphone as well.
On the other hand, Xperia Z3 Compact too houses same internal hardware sans the screen and the battery capacity.
The company has priced Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact -₹51,990 and ₹44,990 respectively, and has confirmed that the devices will go on sale in India from Thursday.
