Sony's much anticipated eighth-generation gaming console, PlayStation 4, finally went on sale in North America on 15 November and recorded a staggering one million units in sales within 24 hours of its launch.

Gaming enthusiasts in India who are anticipating to get their hands on the PS4 may not have to wait much long. E-retailer Snapdeal has reportedly claimed that PS4 would be made available in the subcontinent next month and has already begun taking pre-orders for a down payment of ₹1,999.

The website has also opened the pre-order window for Microsoft's new Xbox One as well. Prospective buyers are can place pre-orders for the console for ₹1,999.

Interestingly, the firm has priced both devices for a whopping ₹40,000, which is a bit exorbitant compared to the official prices declared by the companies. Sony PS4 in the US costs $399.99 (₹25,000), where as Xbox One which is set to go on sale in America on 22 November, is priced $499 (roughly around ₹31,270).

As of now, neither of the companies has officially revealed any launch plans for their consoles in India. Hence, buyers are advised to wait for the official confirmation before placing their orders. Rumour has it that Sony may release PS4 in India by the end of the year, while Microsoft's Xbox One is slated for late launch in 2014.
