Press renders of Sony's upcoming camera-centric smartphone, codenamed Honami aka Xperia i1, which is reported to debut next month has surfaced online.
Chinese website e-Price has leaked the alleged press shots of Sony Honami variants flaunting three colours - black, purple and white. By the looks of it, the new phone may come with a glossy glass-like finish on its back cover as seen on Sony's current Xperia Z model. [To view the press images of the Sony Honami, click here]
Popular XDA developer's forum patron known only by his virtual name 'DoomLoRd' tweeted that the upcoming Honami might come with the moniker 'Xperia Z1 (or Z One)'.Considering Sony's naming pattern of its previous Xperia series smartphones, the new name 'Xperia Z1' seems believable.
Honami which is rumoured to feature a 5.0-inch full HD Triluminos display will come with 'X-Reality for Mobiles' screen technology.
It is expected to run on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory with options of memory expansion. Other speculations include a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor with Adreno 330 graphics engine.
The main attraction of Sony Honami would be its camera features. The handset is rumoured to flaunt a 20.7-megapixel camera with the company's exclusive camera technology Exmor RS image sensor. Also, BIONZ image processor and Sony G lens, which are only seen in the high-end DSLR camera, are also expected to be featured inside the upcoming smartphone.
Photography aficionados will be doubly delighted to hear that the smartphone will also have the ability to record videos in 4K (3840x2160p) resolution, which is twice the full HD (1920x1080p) quality. With IP55/IP58 certifications, users will also be able to record videos under water.
Other mentionable features include NFC, Bluetooth v4.0 with EDR and LTE-Advanced data connectivity.
Honami will reportedly get unveiled on 4 September in Berlin, just two days before the annual international electronics trade fair IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) begins. On the very same day, rival Samsung is also expected to pull the wraps off its Galaxy Note 3 phablet and the wearable Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
