Activist, educator and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk has responded to Salman Khan's viral "Sonam, it's done, bro" remark, which the actor made during Wangchuk's hunger strike in support of students protesting over the NEET-UG paper leak.

Speaking during a conversation with Prakhar Gupta, Wangchuk was asked about Salman's comments. Reacting to the actor's change in stance, he said, "Majbooriyan rahi hongi sabki" (everyone would have had their own compulsions), while adding that he did not want to speculate about the reasons behind Salman's remarks.

"You have to look in all directions. The fact that he even said something at all, I respect that. Otherwise, I can't comment on his compulsions," Wangchuk said.

Salman had initially voiced support for the student-led protests, describing the alleged paper leak as a serious issue and praising students for raising concerns about the education system. However, a day later, he urged the protesters to return home and asked Wangchuk to end his hunger strike.

"Sonam, it's done, bro. Don't extend this. Keep the spirit for another day if there be a need, which I doubt, and eat something. If u want, will send u food from home," Salman wrote on X.

The remark quickly went viral on social media, with "Sonam, it's done bro" becoming a popular meme and later appearing on T-shirts. Wangchuk recently reacted to one such T-shirt with amusement and accepted it as a gift, describing the gesture as being made with a "healthy sentiment."

Despite Salman's appeal, Wangchuk continued his hunger strike. He eventually ended the protest after the Union Government agreed to address his demands in writing.
