Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor's family hosted a traditional baby shower ceremony on Sunday evening. Apart from members of the Kapoor and Ahuja families, the celebration was also attended by Sonam's close friends from the industry, including Bhumi Pednekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Masaba Gupta, among others.
Several photos and videos from the godh bharai ceremony have gone viral on social media. The visuals show Sonam Kapoor and her husband, Anand Ahuja, sitting together and performing puja. The ceremony was deeply rooted in Indian traditions and followed Hindu rituals, giving it a more desi and intimate touch.
Keeping up with the tradition, the couple opted for ethnic outfits. Sonam chose a lime-green lehenga paired with a bralette-style blouse and flaunted her baby bump. She completed the look with a matching dupatta. Anand Ahuja, on the other hand, wore an ivory kurta-pyjama.
Arjun Kapoor's sister and Sonam Kapoor's cousin, Anshula Kapoor, shared glimpses from the ceremony on social media. While many praised the actress for keeping the ceremony Indianised and not completely adapting Western customs, a section of social media users felt that she should have opted for a more traditional outfit and questioned the need to flaunt her baby bump.
