Looks like things are not going well with the makers of longest running fiction show "Balika Vadhu," which recently introduced several new faces, including Mahhi Vij (Nandini), Ruslaan Mumtaz (Krish), Avinash Sachdev (Amit) and Smriti Khanna (Vandana) along with a new storyline. After a change in the timeslot and rumours of Avinash being unhappy with the makers, latest reports said that Smriti has decided to take the exit route.

According to a Tellychakkar.com report, Smriti of "Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi" fame is disappointed with the makers as the show has been focusing more on the lead actors Mahhi and Ruslaan. As Smriti's character doesn't have much to offer, the actress has decided to quit the show.

"Initially when she signed the project, she was not been informed about the change in the time slot. Later on, with the plot focusing on Mahhi and Ruslaan's conjugal life, Smriti hardly had anything to do in the show. Naturally, she wanted to back out of the project and try her hands in something else," a source told Tellychakkar.com.

Confirming her exit from "Balika Vadhu," Smriti said that the makers would soon wrap up her track. "When I discussed the issue with the makers, they agreed with me, hence it was a mutual decision. I will be shooting for a couple of days to wrap up my track," she said.

"Balika Vadhu" recently made headlines when the show set a national record by being featured in the Limca Book of Records as the longest running daily fiction soap. Over 2,000 episodes of the show have been telecast so far.

Launched in 2008 by Sphere Origins, "Balika Vadhu" gained immense popularity among viewers with its unique concept of child marriage and brilliant performances by the cast. Over the years, the family drama with a social message has highlighted various issues, such as adult education, adoption and widow remarriage.
