Czech auto maker Skoda appears to be working on a new edition of its popular Rapid sedan for India.

A new spy pic of the Skoda Rapid new variant has hit the web, indicating that the launch of the car is not far. The image was posted by AutoCar India and according to the report, the car is likely to be monikered Skoda Rapid Black edition.

From the image, it looks like the car will receive  cosmetic upgrades like black headlights; black Skoda grille and 16-inch 'Comet' alloy wheels. Although the interior of the car is not visible in the picture, report suggests that the Skoda new Rapid edition will house touchscreen audio system and special black accents. The auto lovers in the country are likely to see the new offering of Skoda on the road in less than six months time.

On the mechanical front, the spied Skoda Rapid new edition is likely to be powered by the 104bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine and company may also offer DSG automatic gearbox and paddle shifters in the car.

The Czech auto maker is also rumored to launch a flagship seven seater SUV in India in coming months. The new SUV, which is likely be around 4.6 meters in length, will go against the Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe in the domestic market. Going by the rumours, Skoda SUV will be based on the Volkswagen Cross Blue concept and will also come with optional all-wheel drive.

Earlier in March, Skoda Auto launched Rapid Ultima special edition in India with a price tag ranging from ₹8.3 - ₹9.97 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The sedan Rapid Ultima is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version of the car comes with 1.6-litre petrol engine, which can churn out a power of 105PS and a peak torque of 153Nm. The diesel variant also packs the same capacity motor that can generate 250Nm of peak torque. It comes with parking sensors with a rear view camera, Garmin and Tom Tom navigation devices, projector headlamps, multi-functional steering wheel, audio player with Aux-in & USB input and new spoke alloy wheels.
