The wedding news of Vaikom Vijayalakshmi had hit the headlines in November and the popular playback singer has been engaged to Bahrain-based Santhosh, who hails from Puthiyangadi, in a private affair on Tuesday, December 13.
The event was only attended by the close friends and family of the couple, who are set to enter the wedlock at Vaikom Mahadeva Temple between 9 am and 11.30 am on March 29. The alliance is said to have come through matrimonial advertisement and the singer has revealed that she will continue her singing career even after the marriage.
Vijayalakshmi, who rose to fame for her unique voice, is the recipient of many prestigious awards in Kerala. She entered the entertainment industry by rendering her voice for the song Katte Katte from the classic movie Celluloid, for which she bagged the Kerala State Film Award Special Jury Mention. Next year, she won the State Award for Best Singer for the song Ottakku Padunna from the movie Nadan.
Other notable songs of Vijayalakshmi include Kaikkottum Kandittilla (Oru Vadakkan Selfie), Uppinu Pona Vazhi Ethu (Utopiayile Rajavu), Neeyo Njano (Anuraga Karikkin Vellam) and Parudeyam Mariyame (Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan), among many others. She has also made a mark in Kollywood with songs Siva Sivaya Potri (Baahubali), Pathu Endrathukulla (10 Endrathukulla), En Jeevan (Theri), among others. The singer is also an expert in playing the musical instrument Gayatriveena.
