The film, helmed by R Balki, has been in the news ever since it went on floors and the trailer received an overwhelming response with many celebs, critics and fans appreciating the actors for their amazing performances.

Here are some reasons why "Shamitabh" is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year:

Never-Seen-Before Plot

Amitabh Bachchan - Dhanush

Fans of the megastar Bachchan and south Indian superstar Dhanush have been waiting to see the deadly combination of the duo in the upcoming film. Bachchan will be seen in a never-before avatar as a voice-over artist.

Though Dhanush's character is slightly under the wraps, expectations are high from the big budget film. From the trailers, it is evident that Dhanush will be seen using Bachchan's voice, which makes it clear why Big B mentioned that the duo is capable of achieving success if they work together.

Ilayaraja's Music

Music maestro Ilayaraja's music is one of the main highlights of the film. There are seven songs in the film, including 'Ishq E Phillum', 'Sha Sha Sha Mi Mi Mi', 'Puddly', 'Piddly Si Baatein', 'Stereophonic Sannata', 'Thappad' and 'Lifebuoy'.

Bachchan and actress Shruti Haasan have also rendered their voices for the "Shamitabh" songs. Big B's 'Puddly' song received overwhelming response from fans and was in the top of iTunes charts.

Akshara Haasan

Fans are waiting to see the acting skills of acting legend Kamal Haasan's younger daughter Akshara, who marks her debut with "Shamitabh". From the trailer, Dhanush and Akshara's chemistry seems to be interesting.

R Balki

Expectations are high for the Balki directorial as he had earlier directed films like "Cheeni Kum" and "Paa" with Bachchan in the lead roles.

Cameo Appearances

The film will be a multi-starrer as many celebs, including Abhishek Bachchan, Rekha, Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Anurag Basu, Mahesh Bhatt, Rajkumar Hirani, Javed Akhtar, Gauri Shinde, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Ekta Kapoor and Boney Kapoor will be seen in cameo roles.
