Actor Shahid Kapoor has been sporting a bearded look these days and it will actually be his look in the upcoming movie, "Rangoon". Vishal Bhardwaj's next movie will present Shahid as an army officer and the beard is an integral part of his look in the film.

Apparently, Shahid does not prefer wigs and artificial beards, and thus decided to grow his own. "There was a lot of pressure on him to hold off growing it but he doesn't like paste-up jobs and wants to be ready with a beard of his own when the film rolls in October," said Shahid's spokesperson.

Shahid is known to be a method actor who preps up for months for his movies. For Vishal Bharadwaj's earlier film "Kaminey", he had to go shirtless and race with horses in one scene.

Since the character, Charlie, was lean, mean and a a tough guy from the streets, the "Shaandaar" actor worked with his trainer for almost eight months, five days a week and two hours a day, for a chiseled physique.

Immediately, after the film's release, he went into a two-month overdrive to pack an eight-pack for his next release.

More recently, Shahid shaved off his hair for a scene in "Haider", which required him to go bald. He grew it back, only to dye it red, for the upcoming "Udta Punjab".

Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, "Rangoon" is a Casablanca-like love triangle. The film also stars, Kangana Ranaut who plays an actress from the '40s, while Saif Ali Khan is to be seen as a filmmaker.

Shahid will soon be seen in "Shaandaar" which also features Alia Bhatt and is slated to get released on 22 October.
