Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer "Chennai Express" will not have south superstar Mahesh Babu doing a cameo role.

Rumours were doing the rounds that the makers of "Chennai Express" had roped in Mahesh Babu for a cameo role in the film, which has other south stars like Satyaraj, Manorama and Priya Mani. But a source close to the film brushed off the reports of Mahesh Babu's special appearance, terming them as "baseless".

According to a Times of India report, Mahesh had recently attended a party thrown by Shah Rukh in Hyderabad, leading many to believe that he would do a cameo in "Chennai Express", like megastar Rajnikanth did in SRK's "Ra.One".

Directed by "Golmaal" fame Rohit Shetty, "Chennai Express" is set to hit screens on 8 August. This will be Deepika's second film with Shah Rukh after 2007 film "Om Shanti Om". Shah Rukh has reportedly performed some daring stunts in the film. During the filming of one such action sequence, the 47-year-old actor sustained an injury and recently underwent a shoulder surgery.

"Chennai Express" is set to take on Akshay Kumar starrer "Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2" (OUATIM 2) which is also due to hit screens on 8 August. Directed by Milan Luthria, "OUATIM 2" also stars Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. While the team of "OUATIM 2" launched the trailer on Wednesday, the makers of "Chennai Express" are yet to release the much-awaited promos.

Earlier, it was said that the trailer of "Chennai Express" would be released during the final match of Indian Premier League (IPL), which was held in Kolkata's Eden Garden Stadium. Much to the disappointment of movie buffs, the trailer was not launched during the event.
