Shah Rukh Khan's "Lungi Dance", a special tribute to Rajinikanth, has received the blessings from the superstar himself.

SRK and Deepika Padukone have grooved to the song titled "Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi dance)", sung by rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.

"Obviously if Shah Rukh is giving a tribute to Rajinikanth, due permissions have been taken. We hear that Rajinikanth sir has blessed the song and given a nod to it," a source close to the film was quoted as saying by the Indo-Asian News Service.

Shah Rukh is an ardent fan of Rajinikanth, one of biggest stars of Indian cinema. It should be noted that Rajini made a special appearance in King Khan's "Ra.One", a sci-fi film. The superstar appeared as "Chitti-The Robot", a character that he played in "Robot" ("Endhiran" in Tamil).

SRK and Honey Singh wanted to pay a musical tribute to the legendary actor. They came up with the "Lungi Dance" video, as the theme was similar to SRK's upcoming film "Chennai Express".

Expressing his respect for Rajini, SRK posted a tweet saying, "The Thalaivar(r) Tribute to Rajani Sir is out. Lungi Dance. Seemed apt if u make a film called Chennai Exp..u need to bow to the greatest."

Shah Rukh and his co-stars are extensively promoting "Chennai Express", which is set for a grand worldwide release on 9 August.

Directed by Rohit Shetty of "Singham" and "Golmaal" franchise, "Chennai Express" is about a Mumbai man in his 40s who is on a trip to Rameshwaram in southern India. He meets a Tamil girl, played by Deepika Padukone, and falls in love with her.

Interestingly, "Chennai Express" has a strong south connection. Besides Deepika playing a Tamilian, the film has southern star Sathyaraj in a pivotal role. National award winning actress Priya Mani has done an item song with the Baadshah of Bollywood. The song titled "One Two Three Four.. Get on the Dance Floor" is already topping the musical charts. The film's music is composed by Vishal-Shekhar duo.
