Shah Rukh Khan Undergoes Knee Surgery; Twitter Fans Pray for Actor's Speedy Recovery

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery of his left knee on Thursday, at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital.

The 49-year-old actor is likely to get discharged from the hospital on Friday, but he has been prescribed four days of bed rest before he resumes shooting for his upcoming projects.

Arthroscopy and joint replacement surgeon Sanjay Desai, who operated the actor, said: "SRK has undergone Arthroscopic surgery of left knee at Breach Candy Hospital. Khan has been suffering from repeated pain and swelling of left knee over the last several months... He has recovered well and is likely to be discharged tomorrow," reported PTI.

SRK, who was shooting for Rahul Dholakia's "Raees" until before the surgery, is currently on a short break. The flick also stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.

The injury had occured during the promotion of Farah Khan's "Happy New Year" last year. Ignoring the pain, SRK continued with his commitments and had even shot for Yash Raj's "Fan" despite a muscle pull.

This is not SRK's first orthopaedic surgery. In the past, the "Chennai Express" actor has undergone shoulder, wrist, and spine surgeries as well.

Ever since the news broke, fans and well wishers of the superstar have been praying for his speedy recovery, making it a trending topic on Twitter with #GetWellSoonSRK.

Soon after the surgery, Shah Rukh took to Twitter to thank his fans for standing by him.
