Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" isn't out until next year January. While this has upset many of his fans, the actor has the perfect explanation for the change of release date.

SRK said the crime-drama was ready for the theatres. But the team chose to delay it because some of the action sequences he had shot didn't come out looking like what they had imagined courtesy his injuries, BollywoodLife cited a leading news channel.

"Jab hum shoot kar rahe the, mujhko yaar chot lagi hui thi, saari film kuch 8-9 mahine delay ho gayi. Phir humne action kiya, but thode pieces phir bhi reh gaye. Humne kar liya woh sab kuch lekin mujhe aisa laga ki uss chot ki wajah se waisa nahi hua jaisa mei chahta tha. Lekin ab khatam ho chuki hain. Woh jaldbaazi mei, bhagam daud mei ho raha tha to hum sabne decide kiya," he further elaborated.

(I was injured when we were shooting, because of which all of my films were delayed by a good 8-9 months. We did the action scenes but there were some left. After we completed the shoot, I thought some of the scenes haven't turned out the way I wanted it to. The film is over now. But it was all done in a hurry and so we took the decision.)

He also explained why the clash of two big films is unnecessary and so the team decided to avoid it. For now, "Raees" will release on Jan. 26, 2017, same day as Ajay Devgn's "Baadshaho" and Hrithik Roshan's "Kaabil."

"Raees," directed by Rahul Dholakia, focuses on the story of Gujarat-based bootlegger (played by SRK) and his rise to power. The crime-thriller stars Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
