Sanjay Patel, Pixar animator and illustrator of Ramayana: Divine Loophole, is making his directorial debut with a short film that will appear in front of Pixar's film The Good Dinosaur when the movie comes out on November 25.

According to wired.com, Disney/Pixar has released the first official preview clip from Sanjay's Super Team, Patel's directorial debut. The clip  is from the beginning of the short and "highlights the contrast between two forms of ritual: young Sanjay's worship of a Saturday morning cartoon superhero team, and his father's Hindu prayers", wired.com said.

Pixar recently screened the entire short for the press and wired.com vouches that the clip "doesn't even scratch the surface of the meticulous detail or wild imagination packed into the film's seven minutes." Sanjay's Super Team is the first Pixar short directed by an Indian-American. It is also the 'most personal and autobiographical project put into theaters by the studio', wired.com emphasised.

Apart from his work at Pixar, Sanjay Patel has created children's books featuring detailed, colourful and fascinating illustrations about Hindu mythology and culture, particularly the Ramayana. John Lasseter, producer and Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, and producer Nicole Paradis Grindle insisted that it was time for Patel to take his work to the next level and Patel committed to directing the Sanjay's Super Team, reports collider.com.

It took Patel three years of work to complete the filmmaking process, design the characters,  and get the musical score done with composer Mychael Danna.
