In a move to meet the growing demand of smartphone users for more storage and easy transfer of content across platforms, flash storage company SanDisk, now owned by Western Digital, has launched two products — SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card and SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 — for mobile phone users in India.
Rajesh Gupta, country manager of SanDisk India and SAARC retails sales and marketing, Western Digital Corporation, said the company has come up with the 256GB microSD card to cater to the needs of mobile phone users. He said there is demand for more storage due to a change in consumers' mobile phone usage pattern and improvement in content quality.
Jaganathan Chelliah, director marketing, SanDisk, said that India is a very important market as memory card segment is witnessing a steady growth with the increase in the number of smartphone users.
The SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is the company's first 256GB memory card aimed at enabling consumers to enjoy the freedom of taking pictures and videos with their android smartphones and tablets without worrying about space outage. It has the capacity to store more than 24 hours of Full HD video and can transfer content at a speed of up to 95MB/s. It is also waterproof, temperature-proof, shock proof and X-ray proof.
The new microSD card comes with a price tag of Rs 13,390. It will be initially available exclusively on Amazon starting December this year before being rolled out to other retailers.
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 is a flash drive with OTG (On-The-Go) functionality designed for Android smartphones and tablets. It is designed to support both micro-USB and USB 3.0 connector, enabling users to transfer files between Android smartphones, tablets, desktop or laptop at a speed up to 150MB/s. It also supports OTG (On-The-Go).
The flash drive is available on Flipkart at Rs 650 for the 16GB version, Rs 950 for 32GB, Rs 1,650 for 64GB and Rs 3,600 for 128GB, and they come with a 5-year warranty.
