Kannada actor Arjun was reportedly arrested on Wednesday for allegedly harassing his wife physically and mentally under the influence of alcohol for several months.

He was arrested based on the complaint by his wife of 11 years, Latashri, who has been living with her parents for the past three months. Arjun was produced before a local court and is now remanded to judicial custody, the Press Trust of India had reported.

Ever since the news of the actor's arrest broke out, there has been a lot of confusion about his identity. Several media reports have made a mix-up of two southern film actors who incidentally share the same name.

Some publications mistakenly reported that the "Action King" Arjun (Sarja) was arrested by the police. Apparently, the media was confused between the two 'Arjuns'.

Arjun Sarja is a popular Tamil actor, who has appeared in several Kannada, Malyalam and Telgu superhit films and is happily married to actress wife Niveditha. The couple has two daughters - Aishwarya and Anjana.

The one who was actually arrested, is a small-time actor who appeared in a few Kannada films such as "Mental Manja", "3Ne Class Manja B.com Bhagya" and "Prem Nagar".

On Tuesday night, he reportedly barged inside his father-in-law's house in Bangalore in a drunken state and verbally abused his wife and the security guard, for which he was later arrested by the local police.

The media's faux pas in mixing up the names came as shock for fans of both actors, and was a bigger surprise for Sarja's fans, who were astonished that he mistakenly linked to such an appalling incident.

IBTimes tried to contact Sarja's nephew and well-known Kannada star Chiranjeevi Sarja, to know if the family was aware of the stir caused by the name confusion and if they are planning to take any action. The actor is presently on his outdoor shooting schedule abroad and was not available for comment.
