Samsung Z2 with Tizen 2.4 OS, Reliance Jio offers launched in India; price, specifications

South Korean consumer electronics major, Samsung launched new Tizen-powered Z2 series smartphone in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Samsung Z2 is third Tizen OS-based handset, after Z1 and Z3, to hit stores in India. The new entry-level smartphone comes with the latest Tizen v2.4 having support for 12 local languages, S bike mode, ultra data saving mode and My Money Transfer app, which helps users transfer money between different bank accounts.

Samsung Z2 sports a 4.0-inch WVGA display and comes with Spreadtrum quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt storage, a 5MP primary camera, 0.3MP VGA snapper on the front and a 1,500mAh battery.

"Samsung Z2 makes 4G accessible and relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users and first time smartphone buyers. It brings consumers a fast and affordable mobile internet experience that will democratize 4G usage in the country," Manu Sharma, Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics, said in a statement.

Samsung Z2 price and availability:

Samsung Z2 comes in Black, Wine Red, and Gold colour options for Rs. 4,590, making it the company's cheapest 4G-LTE smartphone in India. It is slated to be made available in e-commerce website Paytm and also at brick-and-mortar stores across India from Aug. 29 onwards.

The company also announced that Samsung Z2 comes with complimentary invitation to the Relaince Jio preview offer.

With this, device owners will be able to enjoy unlimited HD Voice (VoLTE), Video calling, unlimited SMS, unlimited high speed data and Jio Apps for a period of 90 days. However, charges will be applied for international calls and roaming.

In addition to those services, Samsung Z2 users will also be able to avail premium Jio applications – My Jio, Jio on Demand, Jio Beats – with unlimited options of latest movies, TV shows and songs across multiple languages.
