After months of speculations, Samsung finally pulled the wraps off the flagship phablet Galaxy Note7 at the company's product launch event—"7 Unpacked 2016"— in New York City on Tuesday.
The new Galaxy Note7 comes with huge upgrades over its predecessor in almost all aspects including exterior looks, build quality and internal hardware. It boasts an all new design language, which includes dual-edge curved screen. Unlike the fully metal-clad Galaxy Note 5, the new Galaxy Note7 comes with a blend of glass and metal with IP68 water-resistant certification.
It sports 5.7-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440p) super AMOLED display protected by Corning's latest Gorilla Glass 5 shield.
In addition to fingerprint sensor on the home button, the Galaxy Note7 also boasts ocular-based state-of-art iris recognition biometric technology, which can also be utilised for secured online purchases.
Under the hood, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core/Exynos 8890 octa-core (depending on the region of sale), 4GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage, dual-pixel 12MP camera, 5MP front camera and a 3,500mAh battery.
The Galaxy Note7 also features improved S-Pen stylus with 0.79mm tip having more sensitivity, gesture controls and air command. To enhance the stylus experience, the company has added Samsung Notes, a new unified app allowing users to jot down handwritten notes, draw, or edit memos from one location. It also boasts IP68 certifications enabling users to write on the Always On Galaxy Note7 display while swimming as well.

Besides the Galaxy Note7, Samsung also unveiled the new Gear VR. It boasts 101-degree field of view and is compatible with the Galaxy Note7, S7, S7 edge, Note5, S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ via USB Type-C and Micro USB port connection.
Samsung Galaxy Note7 also comes with accessories such as the new S View Standing Cover. It features a flap, which can tilt 60-degree angle for easy viewing of content. Buyers can also opt for an IP68 water resistant Backpack for on-the-go charging.

Samsung Galaxy Note7 availability:
The company has confirmed that the new Galaxy Note7 will come in four colours— Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx -- and go on sale in select markets from Aug. 19.
It can also pre-ordered in the U.S. starting Wednesday from all major network carriers. However, the price details of the Galaxy Note7 is still under wraps.
As far as India is concerned, Samsung is slated to host a local launch event on Aug. 11 to officially reveal the price and availability details of the Galaxy Note7.
