Samsung Officially Sends Out Invites for Galaxy UNPACKED 2015; Flagship S6 All Set for Debut Next MonthSamsung Mobile Press

Samsung released the invite poster on the official website on Tuesday, 3 February, hinting that the much-awaited Galaxy S6 will finally see the light of the day next month.

The company has confirmed to hold an event Galaxy UNPACKED 2015 on 1 March at CCIB (Center de Concencions Internacional de Barcelona) Placa de Willy Brand, Barcelona, just a day ahead of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2015 held from 2-5 March.

Samsung in its bid to create curiosity among fans has showed off a curved smartphone with a metal-polished contour with the tagline - "What's Next".

A lot is riding on the Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone. Many believe Galaxy S6 will directly impact company's prospect for the year 2015.

Similarly, Galaxy S5 failed to live up to the expectations and adding woes, Apple released bigger iPhone 6 (4.7-inch) and iPhone 6 Plus (5.5-inch), eating away some market share from Samsung in niche high-end smartphone segment, while emerging Chinese firm Xiaomi with its dirt-cheap feature-rich Mi-series devices has pushed Samsung to the wall in mid-range and budget smartphone sector.

Squeezed from both sides by Apple Inc and Xiaomi, Samsung's recent Q3 earning saw a staggering 60% plus drop in the profit margins.

So many market analysts opine that Samsung just can't afford another flop show this year. In that order, Samsung had reportedly re-shuffled management board of mobile division in late 2014 and has even the Galaxy S6 development has been tentatively named "Project Zero", an initiation to re-invigorate the fading Galaxy S series brand.

It is learnt that the new Galaxy S6 will boast 5.0 super AMOLED QHD (aka 2K: 2560x1440p) screen with 540 plus ppi (pixels per inch) resolution. Rumour has it that S6 will accompany the limited edition curved display model.

It is said that the Galaxy S6 Edge will have dual-edge display, where-in phone's screen will be curved on both right and left sides.

Other expected features include a 20mp camera on the rear side, a 5mp snapper with f/1.8 aperture on the front, 32GB/64GB/128GB memory, 2,550mAh battery and Cat 6 4G-LTE network support.

However, there is confusion in the media whether Samsung will incorporate Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 or not.

Last month, Bloomberg citing sources inside Samsung, reported that the company faced over-heating of the Snapdragon 810 chipset during the test run of Galaxy S6.

This issue reportedly forced Samsung to drop Snapdragon CPU model and go solo Galaxy S6 variant with the company's in-house built Exynos 7 Octa-core SoC (System on Chip).

Qualcomm in its bid to appease Samsung reportedly came forward to provide a new upgraded 810 chipset. But the South Korean company has apparently made up its mind to launch Galaxy S6 with Exynos 7 Octa-core processor.

Exynos 7 is said to more superior to Snapdragon 810 as the former is an advanced 14nm (nanometer) class chipset which comes paired with Cat 10 LTE connectivity support, whereas the latter is 20nm class chipset with Cat 9 LTE support.
