Consumer electronics major Samsung launched the new flagship Galaxy S7 series in India on Tuesday, March 8.
The new 2016 series Samsung smartphones comes in two variants -- a normal Galaxy S7 with flat display panel and another with a dual-edge curved screen dubbed as Galaxy S7 edge.
However, the latter is a bit bigger than the former. The Galaxy S7 edge comes with a 5.5-inch screen, whereas the Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display. Both the devices will have QHD (2560x1440p) resolution screens with the "Always On" feature and come encased with 3D glass and metal fuse body.
Both the Galaxy S7 series devices boast an IP68 water-proof certification and a micro SD card slot. They can survive five feet under water for close to 30 minutes.
Other stipulated features include a 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, 3000mAh/3600mAh and a finger-print sensor.
For the uninitiated, the Galaxy S7 series bound for Indian market is coming with the Samsung's proprietary Exynos 8890 SoC (System-on-Chip).
[Note: Galaxy S7 series with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor will be sold in America, China and Japan, while the rest of global regions will devices with Exynos CPU.]

The company has confirmed that the Galax S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will cost Rs 48,900 and Rs 56,900, respectively, and hit the stores on March 18. Prospective buyers can pre-book the Galaxy S7 series handsets Tuesday (March 8) onwards and those who order the devices before March 17 will get the Gear VR headset free.
It also announced that the "Samsung Concierge" service that has been incorporated in the "My Galaxy" app in the Galaxy S7 series phones [Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 series will get this later in the year]. This special service offers three key privileges --
My Assistant: It helps owners order flowers, do Web check-in, set reminders, and use other services.
Phone Pickup & Drop: Users can call customer care [between 10:00 am and 06:00 pm] and get it serviced at their doorstep. If the device needs to be repaired at the service centre, owners will get a standby device until the original is delivered back to you. [This service is available in 19 cities and is expected to be expanded to other regions soon]
Live Chat: Users can contact Samsung help desk at any given time and ask queries related to phone features, register complaints and other things.
