World smartphone leader, Samsung has finally pulled the wraps-off the long rumored premium slate series Galaxy Tablet S at the company's Galaxy Premiere 2014 event, New York City.

"The tablet is becoming a popular personal viewing device for enjoying content, which makes the quality of the display a critical feature," said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics.

"With the launch of the Galaxy Tab S, Samsung is setting the industry bar higher for the entire mobile industry. It will provide consumers with a visual and entertainment experience that brings colors to life, beautifully packaged in a sleek and ultra-portable mobile device.",

As reported earlier, the new Galaxy Tab S are premium slates inspired by the flagship smartphone Galaxy S5. They flaunt the same perforated back-cover shell and the ominous home button (with finger-print sensor).

There were many reports twirling in the internet that Apple would be first to incorporate the finger print sensor (first introduced in iPhone 5S) in their 2014 iPad iteration, but arch-rival, Samsung has taken the lead to introduce the industry's first bio-metric technology based tablet PC via Galaxy Tablet S.

It has to be noted that both the Galaxy Tablet S - 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch devices measure just 6.6 mm, much slimmer than the Galaxy 5. Even the paper thin Apple iPad (7.5 mm) seems to look thicker compared to the new Samsung tablet.

Another mentionable feature is the tablet's 'Adaptive Display,' which ensures the good visuals by intuitively adjusting gamma, saturation, and sharpness based on the application being viewed, the color temperature of the viewing environment and ambient lighting. Owners can set professional modes – AMOLED Cinema and AMOLED Photo – and can also manually adjust the display settings for bright, dynamic results for both video and photo content.

Besides the difference in size and battery capacity, both Galaxy Tablet S variants pack same specifications. They both flaunt super AMOLED WQXGA (2560x1600p) screen and ship with Android v4.4 KitKat OS powered by Exynos 5 Octa (1.9 GHz Quad-core + 1.3 GHz Quad-core) or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz Quad-core CPU (type of processor depends on the region/operator), 3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB inbuilt memory.

Samsung has confirmed that the new Galaxy Tab S slates will reach select markets in July, but details regarding price and region specific (except USA) release date are still under wraps.
