Earlier in the week, Samsung unveiled its new flagship Galaxy S7 series smartphones in Barcelona Feb. 21, ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016.

The company said the new phones would available in select markets in mid-March, but refrained from disclosing the device's price and actual release time-frame for the Indian market.

Now, PTI, citing sources inside the company, has claimed the new Galaxy S7 series will hit stores in India in the second week of March.

In a related development, the Galaxy S7 series bound for the Indian market is expected to come with Samsung's proprietary Exynos 8890 SoC (System-on-Chip), Gadget 360 reported.

The Galaxy S7 series with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor is heading to America, China and Japan, while the rest of global regions will get devices with the Exynos CPU.

Samsung's new 2016-series smartphones come in two variants — the Galaxy S7 with a flat display panel and another with a dual-edge curved screen, dubbed the Galaxy S7 edge.

However, the latter is a bit bigger than the former. The Galaxy S7 edge comes with a 5.5-inch screen, whereas the Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display. Both devices will have QHD (2560x1440p) resolution screens with the "Always On" feature, and come encased with 3D glass and a metal fuse body.

The company also revealed that both the Galaxy S7 phones will boast waterproof certification and a micro SD card slot, which were sorely missed in the Galaxy S6 series.

Other features include 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, 3,000mAh/3,600mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor.
