Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S6. After the failure of its predecessor Galaxy S5, Samsung laboured hard on the next one to make it good enough to outdo the competitors.
After a decent response on the Galaxy Note 4 Edge, it also unveiled an Edge version of the S6. Both the smartphones offer elegance in design, power in processing and many more. You'll actually be happy to know there are so many things Samsung has offered in the latest edition. Here are the six key significant changes which made it a relevant and classy flagship.
Incorporating the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4, both the smartphones offer a one-of-a-kind crafting technology with premium aesthetics. The Galaxy S6 Edge, particularly, shows unique and outstanding beauty while also providing a solid grip and an immersive viewing experience with the world's first curved display on both sides. Apart from offering in clichéd white and black both the smartphones have been rolled out in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum (Galaxy S6 only) and Green Emerald (Galaxy S6 Edge only).
Both the smartphone also boast a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 1440x2560 pixels resolutions at 577ppi.
Looks alone cannot satisfy the consumers. Samsung has featured the latest 3GB LPDDR4 RAM sticks on both the phones. The latest RAM chip gives double speed in comparison to a similar volume LPDDR3 RAM. The LPDDR4 also provides double bandwidth and consumes 10% less voltage, resulting at least 2/3rd less power consumption than the LPDDR1 RAM and 1/3rd less power than LPDDR3 RAM chipsets.
For making the perfect combination, both the smartphone come equipped with an Octa-Core processor by featuring a Quad-Core running at 2.1GHz and another at 1.5GHz. Both the smartphone also feature UFS 2.0 Flash memory for achieving better speed while reading or writing a file. Moreover, the 1440P/VP9 hardware-based codec enables users to enjoy high resolution streaming video while also using less power.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are equipped with a 16MP rear and 5MP front camera. The F1.9 aperture lenses and high resolution sensors can provide the superior image quality even in the dark. In addition the existing Auto Real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR), Smart Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and IR Detect White Balance features provide advanced light sensitivities and crisp camera solutions. These advanced camera functions enable users to capture their most precious and personal moments in uncompromising quality.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge features the upgraded Samsung KNOX and MDMsecurity features for real-time protection from potential malicious attacks. Additionally, both the devices also feature Find My Mobile to find out lost devices and protects personal information through a number of services, including the all new remotely controlled "Reactivation lock." With an enhanced touch-type fingerprint scanner, it also provides quick authentication and saves encrypted data in secure device storage.
With these two smartphones Samsung has also launched its ApplePay-like one touch payment platform called Samsung Pay. This new mobile payment system comes protected with Samsung KNOX and is equipped with fingerprint scanning, and advanced tokenisation. Samsung Pay works with both Near Field Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology to make it device, merchant and card issuer agnostic. The service will be available in the US in the second half of the year.
Both the devices feature fully embedded WPC and PMA certified wireless charging technology hence are able to work with any wireless pad available in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards. They also sport incredibly fast wired charging, 1.5 times faster than the Galaxy S5, providing about 4 hours of usage after only 10 minutes of charging.
Both the smartphones will be available with 32, 64 and 128GB storage option with Android 5 Lollipop OS out of the box. The smartphones will be rolled out globally starting 10 April.
