Samsung unveiled the most awaited smartphone of the year -- Galaxy S4 -- at the Radio City Music Hall, New York City, on Thursday evening.

The next-generation 5.0-inch Galaxy S4 boasts of an enhanced hardware upgrade and it weighs a little lighter and thinner than its predecessor Galaxy S3. The new device will be marketed in two variants -- one with an Octa-core processor and another with a quad-core processor -- as speculated before the release. The device boasts of world's first Full HD Super AMOLED display.

During the launch event, JK Shin, president and head of IT & Mobile Communications, Samsung, said: "With the Galaxy S4, Samsung is again going to enhance the way we live."

"All the innovative features of Galaxy S4 were developed based on the insights and needs we found from our consumers all around the world. Following the successful Galaxy S series, this phone is yet another great proof point of people-inspired innovation. At Samsung we'll never stop pursuing innovation conceived by people, so we can inspire them in return." he added.

With the state of the art software and hardware enhancements, Galaxy S4 truly personifies its marketing tag-line "Life Companion."

It looks like the smartphone is endowed with an artificial intelligence. If the device comes with an artificial intelligence, it will definitely dwarf Apple's iPhone 5.

The Galaxy S3 successor comes with a gamut of advanced features such as:

Smart Scroll:  Galaxy S4's 2.0-megapixel front camera will track your facial movements to scroll through an email text or browse internet.

Smart Pause: Again thanks to the front camera, the smartphone detects where the user is looking. For example, if the users takes his/her eyes off  a video they are watching and looks somewhere else, the smartphone automatically pauses the video and the video starts playing once the user's attention returns to it.

Samsung WatchON: This innovative feature will transform Galaxy S4 into a universal remote control.  The company claims that Galaxy S4 can work as IR (infrared) remote to operate the TV set, set-top box and other digital systems and it can even control the AC.

S Voice Drive: This amazing feature makes Galaxy S4 take commands through voice control when the user is driving. The smartphone automatically converts text messages into speech so that the driver need not look into smartphone to read the text and get distracted while driving.
